Flint and Walling 10 gpm 3 hp submersible pump is ideal for a well between 80' and 700' deep. Since you pump water from the static water level, which is the distance from the well top down to the water, at 40-60 pressure switch setting the 3 hp 10 gpm submersible pump will produce between 15.0 gpm at 60 psi at 80' of total lift, and will still deliver 8.7 gpm at 700' of depth at 60 psi, if the water level ever draws down to there. When sizing your pump wire, you need to take the distance from the power panel where the meter supplies the power, out to the well, and down to the submersible pump in the well. With the 3 hp submersible pump set at 400' depth and a run to the main power panel of 150' you size your pump cable wire for 550' total run to the 3 hp motor. With the 3 hp 230V single phase motor running 550' total, we would need to run #6 wire to the pump. The #6 pump wire can run up to 750' total with the 3 hp pump motor.
When sizing a
water pressure tank for use with
the 3 hp 10 gpm pump, you should select a
bladder type pressure tank that
has a minimum draw down of 45 gallons. This way you prevent short cycling
the pump, because when it turns off, the pump can rest for 3 full minutes
before turning back on. If we use a 40-60
pressure switch on the
tank fitting kit, we would need to select a minimum size water pressure
tank of two AT244 tanks which give you 21.9 gallons of draw down, usable
water from each tank before the pump turns back on. These two pressure tanks
would need to be manifolded together to give the desired 43 gallons of draw
down for the 3 hp pump system. |
