Flint and Walling 5 gpm 1/2 hp submersible pump is ideal for a well between 60' and 225' deep. Since you pump water from the static water level, which is the distance from the well top down to the water, at 30-50 pressure switch setting the 1/2 hp 5 gpm submersible pump will produce between 7.9 gpm at 40 psi at 60' of total lift, and will still deliver 4.2 gpm at 225' of depth at 40 psi, if the water level ever draws down to there. When sizing your pump wire, you need to take the distance from the power panel where the meter supplies the power, out to the well, and down to the submersible pump in the well. With the 1/2 hp submersible pump set at 225' depth and a run to the main power panel of 150' you size your pump cable wire for 375' total run to the 1/2 hp motor. With the 1/2 hp 230V single phase motor running 375' total, we would need to run #12 wire to the pump. The #12 pump wire can run up to 650' total with the 1/2 hp pump motor.
When sizing a
water pressure tank for use with
the 1/2 hp 5 gpm pump, you should select a
bladder type pressure tank that
has a minimum draw down of 7.9 gallons. This way you prevent short cycling
the pump, because when it turns off, the pump can rest for 1 full minute
before turning back on. If we use a 30-50
pressure switch on the
tank fitting kit, we would need to select a minimum size water pressure
tank of AT122 which gives you 10.3 gallons of draw down, usable water from
the tank before the pump turns back on. A larger
pressure tank is OK if you
desire, as it will increase the usable water between pump cycles. |
