Bell boxes are designed for making the electrical cable splice between the submersible pump wire and the underground UF burial wire going from the well to the house. These bell boxes are usually connected to the side of the steel or plastic casing and the wire from your pump comes out of the well top and into the bell box. The UF burial wire bringing power from the house to the well goes into the bell box, and wire nuts are used to connect them. This makes it possible to separate your power at the well, when it becomes necessary to pull the pump.

Heat shrink splice kits are splices for doing under water electrical connection. Each splice kit has the appropriate number of stakons and heat shrink protective splice tubing. To splice for under water, matching color wires are connected together after having slid a shrink tube over the wire. The connection is made with the stakon which is a small metal connector which accepts an end of a wire into each end. The stakon is crimped into place with a crimping tool. The shrink tubing is placed over the stakon, and heat from a lighter or small torch is applied. Keep moving the heat back and forth over the heat shrink tubing until the tubing shrinks down and the sealant ooses out of the ends of the tubing, all around the wire. When properly shrunk, the stakon inside the shrink tubing will show as a raised area of the tube, and the ends will have gel sealant coming out of them.
