| Installing rod
guides onto your fiberglass rod is easy with the new rod guide install
tool. This unit applies the physics of applied pressure onto the rod
guide to force it to slide down onto the fiberglass rod.
The end of the rod guide install tool hooks over the fiberglass rod. You put the rod guide, with the slot facing down toward the fiberglass rod, into the rod guide install tool, as close as possible to the place the tool is connecting around the fiberglass rod. The socket on the other end of the tool is designed to insert a 1" steel pipe to use to apply pressure. This can be as short as 12" or any length you may need to apply pressure to install the guide onto the rod. The pipe screws into the socket to make a secure connection. With the rod guide in position as close as possible to the end where the tool hooks over the fiberglass rod, pull down on the rod guide tool with the piece of pipe. The leverage will push the rod guide down onto the fiberglass rod making it a nearly permanent install. This tool will work on 5/8" fiberglass rod and 3/4" fiberglass rod. Keeping the rod guide as close to the hook end, increases the leverage you have, since you will have rod flex if you place the rod guide too far toward the socket end.
