Many Zoeller sump pumps and sewage pumps are manual / non-automatic pumps which are made automatic with a float switch or a control panel.

Many float switches are single ball float switches that are a piggyback design. Piggyback float switches plug into the power wall outlet, and the manual pump plugs into the back of the float switch plug. The float is tethered to the discharge pipe from the pump, to control the on and off points.

 PUMP DOWN to EMPTY TANK   FLOAT SWITCHES

The Pump Down to Empty Tank control is used with sump and sewage pumps. We stock these variable level float switches in the piggy-back plug-in design. The float switch plugs into the outlet and then the pump plugs into the piggy-back switch. These plugs are wired for either 115 volt or 230 volt use and all come with a 15' cord.
These variable level float switches are mechanically activated and DO NOT CONTAIN MERCURY to avoid any environmentally sensitive concerns.
The single ball switch has only one float that controls both the on and off function of the pumping range.
The double ball float switch has two floats. One that turns the pump on and one that turns the pump off, which allows for a much wider range of on and off levels.
Single ball switches can be direct wired by cutting off the plug.
Double ball float switches MUST be used with the plug. DO NOT CUT THE PLUG OFF THE DOUBLE BALL FLOAT SWITCH.
The States of CT, RI, ME, IL, VT, MN, NY, MA, & CA can not use mercury floats - must buy special floats

The Pump Up to Fill Tank controls serve just the opposite function as described above and are used to turn a pump off when cistern or tank is full. We stock these in open end ( without plug ) for direct wiring purposes. Since there is no plug, they can be used for either 115 volt or 230 volt use. All come with 15' cord.
